On Wednesday, Maryanne Kitany took the stand in a case involving her estranged husband, Mithika Linturi. She revealed that Linturi had moved into her house in Kileleshwa due to alleged rent arrears.

Kitany stated that she had assisted Linturi by paying Ksh. 200,000 towards his rent, after he had requested the money to settle the arrears.

The couple's relationship began in August 2014, when they started having regular visits. They later decided to take all their children to Zanzibar in the same year.

Kitany testified that Linturi had informed her that he was single and available, having divorced three previous wives. She stated, 'I came in as the fourth wife.'

The couple's family trips continued in December 2014, when they traveled to Australia to have all their children study together at a cost of Ksh. 11 million, which Kitany paid.

They also took a one-year lease in Runda in June 2015, to accommodate their six children as they constructed and renovated a house in Meru.

Kitany narrated how in January 2016, the couple hired an architect and started the construction of the house in Meru two months later at a cost of Ksh. 36 million.

She stated that she had given Ksh. 26 million towards the construction, as they had agreed to stay together as husband and wife.

However, in February 2016, Linturi began talks with his friends in Nyeri on formalizing their union.
