On Monday night, detectives raided the home of Deputy President William Ruto in Karen, recovering a staggering Ksh 12 billion in safes. The operation, which started at 9:21 pm, was cut short after Ruto's security forces retaliated, forcing the detectives to retreat for their safety.

According to Joshua Kuria, an officer involved in the operation, 'We have managed to recover Ksh 12 billion in the operation that lasted for more than one hour.'

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji had earlier ordered the arrest of Treasury CS Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, among other state officers, over the dams scandal. Additionally, detectives arrested NEMA Director-General Geoffrey Wahungu at his home in Rukindu, Tharaka Nithi County, as part of the swoop.
