Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been accused of being inconsistent in his actions, as evidenced by a leaked audio recording of a conversation between him and Reuben Ndolo, a former Makadara MP.
According to the recording, which was made on Sunday evening, Ndolo was arrested by Flying Squad detectives for creating disturbance and threatening to kill during a raid at Bustani Gardens along Oledume Road.
Ndolo is heard begging Sonko to bail him out of jail, but Sonko refuses, saying that Ndolo broke the law and must face the consequences.
Instead of bailing Ndolo out, Sonko offers him chicken from KFC, saying 'Hakuna cha udungu kazini. Ile kitu naweza kukufanyia, wacha niende KFC nikubuiye kuku uleetwe.'
Ndolo was arraigned in court on Tuesday, along with six others, and charged with uttering words threatening to kill Rashid Hamid, the director of Richland Properties Limited.
The court heard that Ndolo and Daniel Otieno, who are the 1st and 2nd accused persons respectively, uttered words threatening to kill Hamid, saying 'Wewe mjinga wa Lamu, ukileta mchezo Nairobi tutakuua kwa kukudunga dunga visu, usilete ushago hapa Nairobi si kwenu, rudi Lamu na tutahakikisha tumekuuwa.'
Ndolo pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or an alternative of Sh300,000 bond with one surety.
The case will be mentioned on September 3, 2019, for pre-trial directions.
