On August 11, 2018, the Kenya Body Building Federation held elections that have now been declared invalid by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT).
According to the SDT, the elections were not conducted in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the Sports Act 2013.
The ruling was made on August 11, 2019, and the SDT directed the federation to conduct fresh elections within 90 days under the supervision of the Sports Registrar.
Kenya Body Building Welfare Association Secretary Absalom Matende stated that the elected officials and committee members were illegally in office after the previous elections were declared invalid.
"The elections held on August 11 last year were declared invalid thus the elected officials and committee members purportedly elected on the same date were illegally in office as their positions were duly dissolved," said Matende.
Efforts to get a comment from Chris Omedo, the federation's chairman, were unsuccessful.
Matende also called on the office of the Sports Registrar to establish an interim office to resolve the impasse.
