On November 7th, voters in Kibra Constituency will head to the polls to elect a new Member of Parliament, after the seat fell vacant following the death of former MP Ken Okoth on July 26th, 2019.

Okoth, who was just 41 years old at the time of his death, succumbed to colorectal cancer. He was cremated in a private function at Kariakor Crematorium in Nairobi.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced the election date in a gazette notice, stating that political parties must submit their candidates' names for nomination by August 26th. Nominations will take place on September 9th and 10th.

According to IEBC, the campaigning period will run from September 9th to November 4th, with campaigning allowed between 7 am and 6 pm each day.
