On August 20, 2019, Maryanne Kitany, the estranged wife of Meru Senator Linturi, testified in court that her husband was absent from parliament when he was expected to table a motion to impeach Anne Waiguru.

Kitany revealed that she and Linturi were at Sopa Lodges in Naivasha on the day in question, where they had a romantic relationship.

According to Kitany, the decision to take Linturi to Naivasha was a well-calculated move planned by a team from the president and the Deputy President's office.

Linturi had filed a petition seeking the removal of Waiguru from office for transferring Rugut from NYS.

Kitany also revealed that Linturi moved in to her house in Kileleshwa and introduced his children to her, whom she took care of and ensured they went to school.

Kitany disputed the allegations made by Linturi that she was a 'visitor' at their home.

The hearing continues on Wednesday.
