John De Mathew, a singer who made a name for himself with love songs, lived a life that truly reflected his music. He was a devoted husband and father to seven children, and his love for them was palpable.

Among his two wives was Caroline Waithira, who featured in his song 'Wendo Umaga Kuraya' or 'Love Comes from Far'. The song tells the story of how they met and eventually got married.

According to the song, Caroline was thrown out of a concert where De Mathew was performing, but he intervened and invited her to join him. The rest, as they say, is history.

Tragically, De Mathew's life was cut short when his car collided with a lorry near Blue Post Hotel in Thika on Sunday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Thika Nursing Home.

Caroline Waithira, De Mathew's second wife, has spoken out about his death, and photos of the couple have been shared online. They show a man who was clearly devoted to his family and loved ones.

De Mathew's remains are currently at Kenyatta University mortuary, awaiting burial at a later date. His family is still coming to terms with his sudden passing.

Below is a video of De Mathew narrating how he met his wife, Caroline.
