On August 20, 2019, Huddah Munroe made headlines as the latest Kenyan celebrity to be featured in an international publication. The beauty entrepreneur, known for her Huddah Cosmetics brand, was showcased in Harper's Bazaar, one of America's leading fashion and beauty magazines.
Alongside Huddah, the article 'Crazy Rich Angelenos' by Kevin Kwan featured two other women, Adinda Bakrie and Mireya Rios, who are also trying to break boundaries and reinvent themselves in Los Angeles. Kevin described these women as 'Charlie's Angels,' who are part of the city's age of renaissance.
According to the article, Huddah spoke about her humble beginnings, growing up poor, and her celebrity status in Nairobi. She also mentioned her plans to expand her cosmetics business in the US, with a flagship store stocking her popular liquid lipsticks and eye shadow palettes for darker skin tones.
When asked about her upbringing, Huddah shared, 'I grew up in a very nice environment,' she deadpans, 'The only thing we had was poverty. The only thing we didn’t have was food. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an independent woman, and I saw an opportunity to start my own business and help other women feel beautiful.'
Today, Huddah splits her time between various locations, including Abu Dhabi, Monaco, Atlanta, and Shanghai. She is described as a 'person who exists in perpetual motion.'
