On Tuesday morning, Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection with his utterances at a funeral in Olessos over the weekend.
According to reports, Cherargei was taken to Kapsabet for interrogation after being summoned to appear before the DCI to shed light on his alleged comments during the funeral of Dominic Choge on Saturday.
During the funeral, Senator Cherargei was captured in a short clip that circulated online, allegedly warning Deputy President William Ruto's detractors of unspecified action.
Cherargei, a first-time senator and a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto, has been involved in controversy in the past, including clashes with Governor Stephen Sang over the running of Nandi County.
