On December 30, 2018, a whistleblower sent a scathing message to Evans Kidero, Tom Ojienda, and Francis Mburu, exposing a multi-billion shilling land scam in Ruaraka.
The whistleblower, Meshack Dehay, claimed that Kidero, Ojienda, and Mburu had conspired to defraud him and others out of millions of shillings in a deal involving 58 acres of land in Ruaraka.
According to Dehay, the deal was initially worth Kshs. 23B, but was later reduced to Kshs. 4.6B annually, with Mburu set to receive Kshs. 10B, while Dehay and others were to receive a fraction of the amount.
Dehay alleged that Kidero, Ojienda, and Mburu had kept him out of the deal, despite his initial involvement, and had instead worked behind his back to secure the lucrative contract.
Dehay also claimed that Kidero had used his influence to secure a deal worth Kshs. 46M for the supply of water purification chemicals at the Nairobi Water Company, despite owing him money from a previous deal.
Dehay's message ended with a chilling warning, stating that he was ready to die or go to jail with Kidero, Ojienda, and Mburu if they were found guilty of the alleged crimes.
