On August 17, 2019, a Turkish Super Lig match between Besiktas and Sivasspor was momentarily delayed after Sivasspor's French goalkeeper, Mamadou Samassa, collapsed on the field.
According to reports, Samassa was rushed off his line to challenge for the ball with Besiktas's Tyler Boyd, who was on attack. The collision between the two players resulted in Samassa laying flat on his back as medics sprinted onto the pitch to check on him.
Samassa, who was clearly in pain, eventually made his way to the side of the field to undergo assessment, but collapsed moments later as he spoke to a worried team-mate.
A medic quickly turned over his body to ensure he had not swallowed his tongue, before being stretchered off and taken to the nearby hospital.
Fortunately, Samassa's condition has since stabilized, and he was later pictured in his goalkeeper kit cutting a smiling face. Sivasspor's club confirmed in a statement that 'the player's general condition is fine.'
Sivasspor eventually won the match 3-0 as Besiktas ushered in their campaign on a disastrous note.
