On August 19, 2019, Shaffie Weru, a Homeboyz presenter, shed light on the #IfikieWazazi trend, exposing how Instagram photographers were exploiting teenagers.
According to Shaffie, these photographers would target young boys and girls, promising them fame and free photo shoots, only to pimp them out to sponsors.
He explained that the photographers would use young spotters to fish for unsuspecting teenagers online, then direct message them with offers of making them supermodels or video vixens.
Once the teenagers were hooked, they would be given a location for the free shoot, where pictures would be taken and posted online for paedophiles or old men to select who could attend their exclusive parties.
Shaffie also revealed that the spotters would be paid on commissions, ranging from Sh1,000 to Sh2,000 per girl, depending on her physical features.
He emphasized that parents needed to be vigilant and watch their children like hawks, as the moment KOT became the voice of reason when it came to matters of children, the future of Kenya would be doomed.
