Kenyan Schools Kick Off East Africa Rugby 15s Title Chase ¶
On August 17, 2019, the East Africa Rugby 15s title chase kicked off at Tanzania Game Track and Safaris (TGT) Kisongo in Arusha, Tanzania, with two Kenyan schools making a strong start.
Kakamega High, the reigning Kenya National 15s champions, dominated Kangaru High with a 46-0 win, while Dagoretti High, who beat Kakamega High to the National title, walked over Ntare School with a 60-0 scoreline.
On the same day, St. Mary's Kisubi lost out 5-15 to their Ugandan counterparts Namilyango College.
The seven participating schools - Kakamega High, Dagoretti High, Kangaru High, Namilyango College, St. Mary's Kisubi, Ntare School, and Okeeswa of Tanzania - will play in a round robin manner, with the school topping the charts declared the winner.
Upper Hill School, the previous year's champions, failed to return to defend their title.
On Monday, August 19, 2019, the action will resume with an all-Kenyan affair when Kangaru takes on Dagoretti, followed by a mouthwatering duel between Dagoretti and last year's East Africa 15s runners-up Kakamega on Tuesday, August 20.
