Bayern Munich has completed a loan move for Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, with the two clubs announcing the transfer deal on their websites on August 19, 2019.

As part of the deal, Bayern Munich has paid an €8.5m loan fee and agreed to take on Coutinho's full salary for the 2019-20 season in Germany.

Coutinho, who has been given jersey number 10 at Bayern Munich, is expected to spend the season with the Bundesliga champions before a decision is made on a permanent transfer.

Since joining Barcelona in January 2018, Coutinho has played a total of 75 games for the Spanish club, scoring 21 goals and providing 11 assists.

He won the League title twice (2018 and 2019), the Copa del Rey (2018), and the Spanish Super Cup during his time at Barcelona.

On his move to Bayern Munich, Coutinho said,

“For me, this move means a new challenge in a new country with one of the best clubs in Europe. I'm very much looking forward to that.”

He added,

“Like FC Bayern, I have big ambitions and I'm convinced that I can achieve them together with my new team-mates,”
