On August 19, 2019, a Kenyan court handed down a 15-year sentence to rugby players Alex Mahaga and Frank Wanyama for the rape of singer Wendy Kemunto.

International Rugby Careers

Before their sentencing, Mahaga and Wanyama were talented young rugby players who represented Kenya on the international stage.

As young athletes, they had social lives and friends who knew them as humble and hardworking individuals.

"Nope, It was more of the people vs these two. Considering the investigation was based on an Instagram post months after it happened. These two literally didn’t stand a shot, would you risk having your sex tape leak as well, that would have ruined them too. I hope the accusser is happy but she only knows the truth about this but it’s a bad ruling." — @mburu_nj

One of their friends defended their character, stating that they were one of the humblest and most hardworking kids they knew, who had achieved great things at a young age, including representing the national team at 21 years old.
