On a sunny day at St Constantine grounds, the champions St Anthony's Boys Kitale, St Cecilia Misikhu, and St John's Kaloleni kicked off their hockey title campaigns with impressive wins.

St Anthony's began their title defence with a 1-0 win over Meru School in their Group A opener, while national champions Misikhu routed Nyamira Girls in the opening all-Kenyan clashes.

St John's Kaloleni, the coastal girls, showed no respect for their hosts Juhudi, whipping them 5-0.

St Anthony's, who are eying their seventh title, had to work harder to break Meru's defence. Oscar Kibet scored the winner in the 55th minute to give the champions a good start.

Meanwhile, in rugby 15s, Dagoretti High inches closer to the title following their 32-5 win over compatriots Kangaru.

Today, the team will take on Kakamega in a repeat of the national final.
