On August 18, 2019, ODM leader Raila Odinga gave the Nation Media Group 24 hours to apologize and withdraw their headline, falsely claiming the former premier had declared he is already in the presidential race.

Through his lawyers Rachier and Omollo Advocates, Raila has demanded an apology of the same and aid it should be given prominence it deserves, plus treating the matter as an urgency.

According to the demand letter, Raila Odinga strongly objects to what was reported in the Sunday Nation article, which has created a political storm and public response both from Odinga’s allies as well as his political competitors.

”Our client affirms that the aforementioned article undermines our client’s meticulous efforts to help the country address the delicate issues facing it, such as violent elections every five years, runaway corruption, troubles in the counties, reforms in education and endangered national values,” the demand letter stated.
