On Sunday, Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent cooking, a feat she achieved by cooking for 75 hours non-stop at the Kenya Bay Beach Resort in Mombasa.
Ms. Maliha, a 36-year-old mother of two from Mombasa, surpassed the previous record held by Rickey Lumpkin, who cooked for 68 hours 30 minutes 01 seconds in Los Angeles, US, in 2018.
Ms. Maliha's achievement was the culmination of months of preparation and training, during which she prepared a list of 400 recipes of local and international cuisines.
Her journey to the Guinness World Record began in May this year, when she cooked 100 recipes in 36 hours non-stop in a trial run. She then increased her endurance by cooking 200 meals for 54 hours in July before going for the final competition, which was overseen by officials from the Guinness World Record.
The food she prepared will be given to charity homes and orphanages as part of her initiative to raise awareness and to feed the less fortunate in the Kenyan coastal city.
Ms. Maliha's achievement is a testament to her dedication and perseverance, and she has set a new standard for chefs and cooking enthusiasts around the world.
