On August 8, 2017, Nyamai Kaki Rachael, a Jubilee Member of Parliament, won the hotly contested Kitui South seat against Wiper Party candidate Ken Moki. However, Moki's victory was short-lived as he moved to court to seek nullification of Rachael's win citing irregularities.

The Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) had declared Rachael the winner, but the court's decision on Thursday invalidated her victory. This makes her the second Jubilee MP to face the wrath of the courts in an election petition, following in the footsteps of Webuye West counterpart Dan Wanyama whose victory was invalidated earlier in the week.

The Kenyan Report will update you on further developments concerning the same.
