On Saturday morning, Ikolomani Member of Parliament Bernard Shinali narrowly escaped injury after his vehicle was involved in a road crash along Kapsabet-Mau Summit road.

According to Shinali, he was traveling to Nairobi with four members of his family when the accident occurred at Lessos area at around 6:30 am.

"We were traveling back to Nairobi when the accident happened. The oncoming matatu rammed into our vehicle as we tried to escape in vain," Shinali told Daily Nation.

Despite the accident, Shinali and his family proceeded with their journey to Nairobi after medical check-ups at Kapsabet Hospital.

"We have been examined and doctors have confirmed that we are safe. We will continue with our journey to Nairobi after recording statements with the police," Shinali said.

Shinali and his family were returning to Nairobi after attending the burial of his son, Chris Masakah Atema in Kakamega County on Saturday.
