Gor Mahia's wait for a KPL Super Cup title finally came to an end on Sunday, August 18, as they edged a resilient Bandari side 1-0 in a tough clash played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Lawrence Juma's second-half goal was the only difference, with both sides settling for a barren draw in the first half of the encounter.
The win marked a successful start for coach Steven Polack, who replaced Hassan Oktay at the helm of affairs at Gor less than a month ago.
Polack had a nearly fit squad to select from, after missing the services of key players against Aigle Noir in the Caf Champions League.
Francis Afriyie and Clifton Miheso made their debut for K'Ogalo in the KPL curtain-raiser, with Miheso nearly scoring the opener in the 18th minute after being set up by Kenneth Muguna.
However, Bandari failed to take advantage of Gor's numerical deficiency to find a leveller, as Polack's charges strolled to victory.
Lawrence Juma went on to break the deadlock in the 63rd minute, before being substituted in the 72nd minute for Wendo in what appeared to be a tactical decision.
Bandari's hopes of a comeback were further dashed when Tobias Otieno was handed marching orders for a second bookable offence five minutes later.
