On a challenging par 73 course at Nakuru Golf Club, Amardeep Singh Jajuha showcased exceptional golfing skills, posting an impressive 37 points to claim the overall title in the All Captains Prize golf tournament.
Playing off a handicap of 23, Jajuha carded 18 points in the first nine and 19 at the back nine, narrowly beating Ali Hassanali by one point. Hassanali, who carded 16 and 20, was tied with lady captain Wanjiru Kaime, who posted 18 points in each nine, but ultimately took the third prize.
Wahome Wanjohi, playing off a handicap of 12, led the Captains with 35 points, beating current club chairman Stephen Kihumba on countback. Nancy Steinmann emerged as the best Captain Lady Captain, winning by three points from Susan Gichuki, while Fr Paul Gitonga took the men's title with 36 points and Rahab Thuo won the ladies' first prize with 35 points.
In the senior category, Josiah Rutto carded 29 points, while Wasim Ali, playing off a handicap of 7, was the top junior with 31 points. Lawrence Ng'ang'a from Thika Sports Club took the overall prize with 38 points, the day's best score. Dharam Sharma and Patrick Matindi won the nines with 22 and 18 points, respectively, and Dharam Sharma and Benjamin Koyier took the nearest to pin prizes.
The event, sponsored by Menengai Drilling Company, Crater Automobile, and the Captains, attracted a field of 124 players, including past Captains from various clubs. Krishan Ahluwallia, all the way from India, was among the attendees, and the event concluded with a tree-planting ceremony led by current club chairman Stephen Kihumba.
Wanjohi Wahome expressed his delight at the event's success, saying, 'I am so delighted that this idea which I have been having since 2015 has eventually come to reality but I am more thrilled for having emerged the winner of the All past captains category.'
