Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez has rejected a transfer offer from Italian club Roma, leaving the Red Devils to continue their search for a buyer for the struggling star.

According to reports, United were willing to pay a significant portion of Sanchez's £560,000-a-week wages as part of a loan deal with an option to buy.

Sanchez has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, scoring just five times in 45 appearances, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly keen to get rid of the 30-year-old.

Sanchez's contract details reveal that he takes home a basic salary of £300,000 a week, as well as a net payment of £100,000 a week from a £5million-a-year image rights deal, making his total weekly earnings an eyewatering £560,000.

With no clubs willing to take the risk on signing an injury-prone and out-of-form Sanchez, United may have to pay at least some of his salary themselves to get him off the books.
