On August 18, 2019, Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, cooking for an impressive 75 hours non-stop.

She surpassed the previous record held by Rickey Lumpkin from California, USA, who cooked for 68 hours 30 minutes and one second in December 2018.

Her remarkable achievement was made possible with the support of Pwani Oil, which sponsored her attempt and covered all costs associated with the record-breaking attempt, including equipment, food, and medical support.

Before the record-breaking attempt, Chef Maliha underwent rigorous preparation, including cooking for 36 hours as part of her training.

Interestingly, Chef Maliha is self-taught and currently works as a chef for a leading non-governmental organization based in Mombasa.
