On August 15, 2019, Ahmed Elgaafary, a 27-year-old Uber driver, was convicted of raping an intoxicated woman in Philadelphia.

According to Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan, Elgaafary will be sentenced at a later date and then likely deported to Egypt, his country of citizenship.

On the night of February 15, 2019, Elgaafary picked up the woman at Valley Forge Casino Resort near Philadelphia. He then stretched the 15-minute ride to her home into a 53-minute one, allowing him to assault her in the backseat.

Assistant District Attorney Vincent Robert Cocco stated that Elgaafary charged the woman for the longer ride and for vomiting in his car, adding an extra $150 to her fare.
