On August 15, 2019, during the ground-breaking ceremony for a new Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Mbita, MP Millie Odhiambo expressed her openness to welcoming children sired by her husband out of wedlock.

Speaking candidly about her own struggles with infertility, Millie Odhiambo stated that she would openly welcome any children her husband, Magugu Mabona, may have fathered with other women, saying it would unite her family and avoid the drama that often ensues when husbands pass away.

“If my husband Magugu Mabona gave birth to some children out of wedlock, let him incorporate them in my family,” she said.

Millie Odhiambo further emphasized her commitment to taking care of any children her husband may have fathered outside of marriage, noting that she doesn’t want any child to suffer due to their parents’ marital status.

She also announced plans to draft a bill that will compel Kenyan men to take responsibility for all children they sire, stating, “Start preparing because the Bill will compel men to be responsible. All children are creatures of God and they deserve their father’s love. Let no man ignore these children,”
