On Wednesday morning, a train heading to the city center from Ruiru encountered traffic on the railway track at Mutindwa railway crossing.

According to Railway OCPD Esther Chacha, the vehicle was in the middle of the railway line when the train approached, causing the occupants to jump to safety just in time.

"The two were not injured as they managed to jump as the train approached and the train hit the vehicle on the back and dragged it a few meters," Chacha said.

The people at the accident scene managed to pull the vehicle out of the railway track, and the train proceeded to the city center.

The vehicle has been towed to the Buru Buru police station.

Wednesday's incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of railway crossings, particularly at Mutindwa, where a similar accident occurred in 2013, resulting in the deaths of 11 people.
