On August 17, 2019, a tragic incident occurred at Polyview Estate in Kisumu, where a matatu driver lost his life in a car parking dispute.
According to reports, Daniel Jaoko, a manager at Ray-Green Hotel in Nyamasaria, had parked his car, blocking Peter Otieno, a matatu driver, who wanted to drive out of the estate.
County commander Benson Maweu confirmed the 5am shootout, stating that the suspect drew a pistol and shot the matatu driver three times in the chest.
Despite efforts to save his life, Otieno succumbed to his injuries at Avenue Hospital, suffering from serious lung injuries.
During a search of Jaoko's vehicle, police recovered 15 bullets, while a second search at his house in Nyamasaria found 42 bullets.
The suspect and his car are currently being held at Kondele Police Station, where investigations are underway.
