On August 17, 2019, Nicki Minaj sparked rumors of her marriage to ex-con fiance Kenneth Petty after changing her Twitter name to Mrs. Petty.
Minaj, 36, has been in a relationship with Petty, 43, since 2018, despite his troubled past as a manslaughter convict and registered sex offender.
Minaj has consistently defended Petty, saying,
He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life.
in response to criticism of their age gap and Petty's criminal history.
Minaj has announced plans to have a big wedding with Petty after completing her music tours and music production, but has confirmed that they are already legally married.
