On Friday, August 17, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto made a surprise appearance at the Kericho Green Stadium, where he participated in games competitions organized by the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA).

During the warm-up exercise, Ruto decided to do some 9 press-ups, which left the crowd in awe as he performed them one after the other.

After the push-ups, Ruto proceeded to kick the ball and took a perfect shot that saw the goalkeeper run for it on the opposite side. He then scored the penalty goal, which was followed by a ceremonial penalty where he successfully managed to save the horribly taken penalty that approached the goal sluggishly.

As the second in command, Ruto made a victory lap after the ceremonial penalties, leaving the crowd cheering.

According to Ruto, 'Sport provides a platform for enthusiasts to come together to support and display patriotic pride. Spectator disciplines, including athletics, football, volleyball and rugby enable on-field honouring of heroes and national bonding.'
