Two Chinese Nationals Arrested for Operating Illegal Chang'aa, Busaa Plant in Kenya

On August 16, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two Chinese nationals, Wang Yalan and Wang Haijian, for allegedly operating an illegal chang'aa and busaa brewing plant in Athi River, Machakos County.

According to the police, the two were arrested following a tip-off from members of the public. The suspects were found operating the liquor processing plant at their residence in Green Park estate.

During the raid, the police seized over 800 liters of methanol, 3,000 liters of chang'aa and busaa, and several sacks of sorghum and rice. The suspects are being held at Athi River police station pending arraignment in court on Monday.
