Ugandan musician Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone, has found himself in a precarious situation after declaring his interest in politics.

According to reports, Chameleone's decision to vie for the Kampala Lord Mayor position in the country's next elections, set for 2021, has left a bad taste in the mouth of President Yoweri Museveni.

As a result, Museveni reportedly unfollowed Chameleone on Twitter, sparking speculation about the reasons behind the move.

Chameleone, 40, has been close to Museveni in the past and even campaigned for the Head of State in 2016, producing a song themed 'Tubonge Nawe'.

However, if Chameleone falls out with Museveni, he will be the second high-profile singer to do so with the Uganda strongman after Bobi Wine.

Interestingly, Museveni currently only follows 23 people on Twitter, including the First Lady, Janet, Tanzania President John Pombe Maghufuli, his Rwandan counterpart and reported nemesis Paul Kagame, and Deputy President William Ruto.
