On August 16, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed a national conference on education reforms at the KICC in Nairobi, Kenya.
He emphasized the importance of giving children the freedom to choose their own path in life, citing the examples of successful individuals like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, who did not attend college but went on to achieve great things.
"Steve Jobs and Bill Gates did not attend any college, but every time they visit Kenya, you will see professors rushing to seek their advice," Uhuru said.
The President also called on parents and teachers to support the new education system, which he believes will benefit both students and the country as a whole.
He urged parents and teachers to give students a break during short breaks, citing the negative impact of constant pressure on students' mental health and the rise of substance abuse among students.
