Fifa has imposed a lifetime ban on former Nigeria coach Samson Siasia, following a guilty verdict for accepting bribes to manipulate matches.
The ban, which comes into effect immediately, was announced on Friday, August 16, 2019, after a lengthy investigation into Siasia's involvement in match-fixing.
According to Fifa, the formal ethics proceedings against Siasia were initiated on February 11, 2019, following an extensive investigation into matches that Wilson Raj Perumal attempted to manipulate for betting purposes.
"The adjudicatory chamber found that Mr Siasia had breached art. 11 (Bribery) of the 2009 edition of the Fifa Code of Ethics and banned him for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level. In addition, a fine in the amount of CHF 50,000 has been imposed on Mr Siasia," read the ruling from Fifa.
