On Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Gusii Stadium, Beatrice Chebet, a 19-year-old athlete from Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), dominated the 5,000m women's race at the ongoing Kenya Communications Sports Organisation (Kecoso) games.

With a time of 16:54:2, Chebet, the World Under-20 5,000m champion, maintained her pace from start to finish to claim the title.

"I had not prepared well for this event, having arrived just a few days ago but I thank God I won at last," said Chebet after the race.

Christine Chesire from Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) came in second with a time of 17:12:7, followed by her teammate Diana Cherotich in 17:17:5.

KPA continued to impress, taking the first two positions in the 3000m women's race and men's 400m hurdles.
