Airtel Africa, the parent company of Airtel Kenya, has announced that it will be disrupting mobile money services for its customers in Kenya from Saturday to Sunday. The disruption is due to system maintenance, which will begin at 8 am on Saturday and end at 2 pm on Sunday.
According to Airtel Africa, the new system will provide more mobile money services with enhanced security features. The company has been working to improve its security measures after losing Sh670 million to staff fraud in June this year.
As of December 2018, Kenya had 31.6 million active users of mobile money transfer services, with Safaricom's M-Pesa leading the market with 25.57 million users, followed by Airtel with 3.77 million users.
