Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has threatened to sack six of his eight County Executive Committee members for allegedly working with cartels to steal taxpayer's money.

According to Sonko, the six officials have been disloyal and have been colluding with cartels to make decisions without his approval.

He cited the Lands and Planning Department as an example, where officials have been allowing developers to build more floors than allowed by zoning regulations in exchange for millions of shillings.

Sonko also accused the officials of colluding with a former deputy governor to allow a developer to build 15 floors in an area zoned for four floors.

He warned that he will ensure that buildings constructed in violation of the law are demolished and that he will also sack revenue officers and their bosses in the Finance department for incompetence.

He cited the example of Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who recently sacked 143 officers in the Finance department for incompetence.
