On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, a 16-year-old girl entered a house in Lalagin village, Litein town, Kericho county, where a 17-year-old boy was staying.

According to eyewitnesses, the girl spent the night with the boy, prompting suspicion among nosy neighbors.

Area assistant chief and police officers were called to the scene after a villager reported the incident on Wednesday morning.

Police commander Felician Tengeye said the teenagers were arrested and taken to Litein police station for questioning.

Despite the teenagers' claims that they did not engage in sex, Commander Tengeye stated that they would undergo a medical examination to confirm.

Parents of the teenagers and the children's department were contacted to offer counseling and monitoring.

Commander Tengeye emphasized the importance of parents taking responsibility for their children's actions and counseling them about the consequences of pre-marital sex.
