Former Manchester City and Swansea player Wilfried Bony has been training with League Two side Newport County to maintain his fitness levels while searching for a new club.
At 30 years old, Bony has struggled to find a team willing to take him on, despite his impressive past performances. He has played for top clubs like Vitesse and Stoke City, and even represented Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations over the summer.
Posting on Twitter, Newport manager Michael Flynn praised Bony's work ethic, professionalism, and standard, saying: "Great to have Wilfried Bony training with us. Excellent work ethic, professionalism and standard. Boys will take a lot from this."
Newport finished seventh in League Two last season, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Football League.
Bony's career has taken a downward turn since his impressive spell at Swansea, where he scored 16 goals in the 2013-2014 season. He was later sold to Manchester City for £28m in 2015, but failed to live up to expectations, scoring just 10 goals in 46 games over two seasons.
With English clubs having until September 2 to register their final squads, it remains to be seen if Bony will find a new team.
