National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairman Eliud Ndung'u Kinuthia announced support for the government's initiative to construct 500,000 affordable housing units by 2022 during a visit to Lamu County on April 30, 2019.

Speaking at a press conference in Mpeketoni, Kinuthia emphasized that the project would improve living conditions for police officers nationwide. "The housing program will enhance the living environment for our officers," he stated.

The initiative aligns with the Jubilee administration's broader agenda to address housing shortages. Kinuthia noted that the plan would ensure all citizens from Kenya's 47 counties have access to adequate housing.

"Instead of providing housing allowances, constructing quality homes will give officers a stable place to live with their families," Kinuthia added. "We urge everyone to support this project for its long-term benefits."

The housing program is part of the government's Big Four Agenda under President Uhuru Kenyatta, aiming to complete 500,000 units by 2022.
