Kenya's KeNHA has recommended toll charges for the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit road, which will make Kenya's tolls higher than those in South Africa.

According to a report published on July 30, 2019, by the Business Daily, trucks will pay Sh. 30 per kilometre while small cars will pay Sh. 6 per kilometre.

This means motorists will pay between Sh. 1,458 and Sh. 7,290 to use the road.

The Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit road is a crucial part of the Northern Corridor, transporting most of the westbound cargo from the Port of Mombasa and the Capital Nairobi.

KeNHA Director General Peter Mundinia stated, 'The project will significantly reduce the travel time between Nairobi and Mau Summit with the perennial traffic jam experienced in Nakuru town and around Gilgil being a thing of the past.'

The highway will be expanded into a four-lane dual carriageway, with the private sector raising finance for the project through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.
