Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has been at the center of the Jubilee administration since President Kenyatta gave him supervisory roles across government in January this year.
According to Suba South MP John Mbadi, Deputy President William Ruto is using the gold scam to get rid of Matiang'i, who has been a thorn in his side since he was given additional responsibilities.
Without mentioning names, Mbadi said two MPs, one from Murang'a and the other from Rift Valley, were collecting signatures to have Matiang'i impeached.
One of the MPs, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, has confirmed the plans to remove the powerful CS.
“I neither deny nor confirm. Kuiva itaiva tu [it will just come to pass]…Whatever is there in the fullness of time it will be out,” Nyoro said.
He added: “If anything myself or Koech or any other MP do, it is not upon Mbadi to say who sends who. Jubilee is not like ODM where you have to jump the highest when the leader orders,”
Nyoro's statement has sparked controversy, with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei accusing Mbadi of diverting attention after realizing that his party leader Raila Odinga is deeply implicated in the scandal.
