Published on July 29, 2019, Mwamba RFC head coach Kevin Wambua expressed confidence that the National Sevens Circuit remains open for competition after his team's victory in the George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens in Meru.
Wambua's team outperformed Menengai Oilers 27-7 in the final, following a semi-final win against KCB 21-7. This achievement earned Mwamba RFC 39 points, placing them at the top of the series, two points ahead of KCB.
‘The title race is still wide open, and we won't be complacent. We'll focus on recovery and continue winning when we resume,' Wambua said in an interview after the tournament.
With the circuit taking a break before resuming at the Dala Sevens in Kisumu, Wambua emphasized the need for his team to continue working hard, as the competition is becoming increasingly fierce.
‘We need to review our performance, identify areas of concern, and improve our strength to cover our weaknesses,' he added.
