July 29, 2019 - Tanzania's Taifa Stars head coach Etienne Ndayiragije has downplayed the pressure ahead of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier return match against Kenya, saying the pressure is on his counterpart Sebastien Migne.
The Burundian coach, who took over from Nigerian Emmanuel Amuneke earlier this month, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance in the first leg, which ended in a 0-0 draw at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
'I'm thankful to God and my team that at least we avoided conceding at home. That would have complicated our plans for the second leg,' Ndayiragije said.
He added that his team showed a winning mentality and the intention was clear from the start, but lacked the sharpness of the final ball on the opponent's goal.
'We had several chances to score, and that gives me hope if we work on the finishing aspect we can beat them (Kenya) at home. I can get a goal or two away,' Ndayiragije said.
With a draw in the second leg, Tanzania will advance to the last round of qualifiers against Sudan for the Cameroon CHAN 2020 tournament set for January.
