Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso passed away on Monday afternoon at the age of 58.
Before her death, the governor had been undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital since her return from India on June 14, 2019.
Laboso had left the country on May 29, 2019, for the United Kingdom, where she received initial treatment at the Royal Madden NHS hospital before being transferred to India for further treatment.
During her 46-day absence, Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok had been running the county's affairs with the assistance of County Secretary Evalyne Rono.
Laboso's body has been taken to Lee funeral home.
