Love Story of Mercy Masika and David Muguro

Mercy Masika, a celebrated gospel artist, and her husband David Muguro have been married for 9 years and have two kids. They share their love story and the struggles they faced in their marriage in an interview with Samantha's Bridal.

David Muguro first met Mercy Masika at a wedding where he was shooting a video. He was immediately drawn to her singing and wanted to ask her to sing at his wedding. Mercy shared her cell number with him, and they started communicating. However, it wasn't until five months later, in January 2007, that they met in person on their first date.

David Muguro recalls that evening, saying, 'I remember I told her I don't want to be in the public at all, but then God does things in his own way.' Mercy Masika's parents were pressuring her to get married within a year, but she and David Muguro took their time, eventually getting married and starting a family.

Marriage and Submission

However, their marriage was not without its challenges. Mercy Masika struggled with the concept of submission, feeling that it made her less of a person. She had to seek mentorship classes with Rev Kathy Kiuna to understand the importance of submission in marriage. David Muguro also had to learn to manage his anger and not get angry with his wife.

David Muguro said, 'I didn't want to get angrier. We had a big issue because I would argue with her. I would get angry but didn't want to get angrier because I had vowed to God that I never raise a finger towards my wife.' He learned to stop and assume the issue never happened, which he later realized was a form of 'suicide – slow puncture.'

Yielding to God

Through their struggles, Mercy Masika and David Muguro learned the importance of yielding to God. Mercy Masika said, 'Submission doesn't make you less. I've also learned that I don't have to win every battle. When things become worse, I just pray, and it works my way.' She has seen God work through prayer and has grown in her faith.

David Muguro added, 'I thank God for being in Christ because when she went for counselling, she actually helped me understand what it was.'

Today, Mercy Masika and David Muguro are proud of their marriage and the lessons they have learned. They are a testament to the power of prayer and the importance of yielding to God in marriage.
