Oburu Oginga Accused of Corruption ¶
Oburu Oginga, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), has been accused of corruption by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly receiving land owned by Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) illegally.
According to the EACC, the land in question was valued at KSh 60 million and was meant to be used for the construction of a port in Kisumu.
Oburu Oginga has denied the allegations, stating that he did not receive the land illegally and that the EACC is targeting him because he is the brother of Raila Odinga.
Sio makosa yangu kuwa ndugu yake Raila," Oburu Oginga said in a statement.
Oburu Oginga's statement comes after the EACC announced that it had recovered the land from him and another company, Kendeep Construction, which had also been accused of corruption.
The EACC's move was seen as a major step in the fight against corruption in Kenya, with the commission's head, Twalib Mbarak, stating that the recovery of the land was a major victory in the fight against corruption.
