On July 27, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko pledged to donate Sh1 million to Faith Mwende, an 8-year-old girl from Makueni county, who needs Sh4 million for a bone marrow transplant in India.

Diagnosed with aplastic anaemia in 2017, Faith has been receiving blood transfusions every month. Her condition makes her feel fatigued and increases her risk of infections and uncontrolled bleeding.

Her father, Fredrick Mailu Mutinda, told Nairobi News that Faith has been missing school due to her frequent hospital visits. 'If we had money, we would have taken her a long time ago,' he said.

Well-wishers can send their contributions to Paybill: 641179, Account No: 1238753264, Account Name: Faith Mwende, Bank: KCB Makindu Branch.
