Published on July 29, 2019, Nyakach Girls High School head coach Chrispin Odindo is optimistic about his team's chances in the national football championship.

The team, which has been unbeaten from the sub-county level, will face stiff competition from Nairobi County giants Dagoretti Mixed, Karugwa Girls from Eastern, and Rift Valley queens Itigo Girls.

Coach Odindo has cautioned his girls to be careful, stating that national games involve a different level of playing and that teams that qualified for this stage are the best.

The team will be banking on their top goal scorer Mercy Akoth and Faith Omuyako to get the goals as they aim to improve on their last performance in the national games.

Nyakach last played in the national games in 2016 where they were knocked out in the semis.

As the host region, Nyanza will have two representatives in both U-19 and U-16 football contests, with Nyakach and Kisii County champions Gesero Girls seeking to lift their maiden trophy.
