GSU Officer Killed, 2 AK47 Rifles Stolen at Wilson Airport ¶
On Saturday, July 27, two General Service Unit (GSU) officers were manning a watchtower at Wilson Airport in Nairobi.
They were approached by two men wearing police uniform who claimed their car had broken down near the Southern bypass.
The GSU officers offered to help, but the suspects turned against them and tried to grab their guns, leading to a fight.
During the fight, one of the GSU officers was shot dead, while his colleague was shot in the leg and lost his firearm.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and recovered two spent cartridges and two magazines with 60 rounds of ammunition from the scene.
The Lang'ata OCPD, Gregory Mutiso, visited the scene and is working with investigators to identify the suspects.
According to a report filed by The Standard on Sunday, July 28, the deceased GSU officer was in the company of another officer when the incident occurred.
